The FFA Cup has seen Perth Glory silenced on social media

Perth Glory fans were denied regular social media updates for a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night due to a Football Federation Australia ruling that meant they weren't allowed to take attention away from the FFA Cup.

With four Round of 32 clashes going on as Glory took on and beat a Western Australia state team 5-2, only those at the stadium knew what was going on as it happened.

The radio silence was the result of FFA restrictions that didn't allow the club to provide Twitter or Facebook coverage while FFA Cup games were being played.

Perth Glory CEO Tony Pignata expressed his displeasure at the ruling on social media.

Played in Western Australia, the Glory's game was still in its early stages when all four FFA Cup games on Wednesday night finished making the imposed social media blackout even more questionable.

It was an ultimately entertaining game played at Inglewood with Tony Popovic's side bagging five goals and Diego Castro striking in acrobatic fashion after 13 minutes.
