Continental champions Chile currently occupy the fourth and final automatic qualifying spot for next year's World Cup, although the CONMEBOL table is so congested that La Roja know they are far from guaranteed a place in Russia.
It has been an inconsistent campaign for the reigning Copa America champions who have failed to really put together a run of wins, but their impressive home form means that qualification remains in their own hands.
Paraguay for their part still retain an outside chance of claiming a place at the World Cup, but to do so La Albirroja cannot afford really to lose any of their four remaining matches. Paraguay did however beat Chile 2-1 when the sides met in Asuncion a year ago and bet365 offer them at 13/2 (7.50) to record another victory.
However, as mentioned previously Chile's home record is strong with Juan Antonio Pizzi's side winning their last four qualifiers and losing only to Argentina in this campaign. The hosts are priced at 4/9 (1.44) despite speculation around Alexis Sanchez's future, with the draw available at 16/5 (4.20).
Last September saw Paraguay claim a hugely unexpected 1-0 win in Argentina, without doubt their best result in quite some years. The Paraguayans rode their luck in the city of Cordoba with Sergio Aguero missing a penalty, with the result all the more surprising given La Albirroja's poor away record. Their only other victory in the current campaign came with a late goal at bottom side Venezuela with Paraguay losing in Peru, Uruguay, Bolivia and Brazil.
With Chile extremely strong at home there seems no reason to oppose the hosts, even with the situation regarding Sanchez's future still unclear at the time of writing, and backing them to be winning at half time and full time at 11/10 (2.10) should appeal.
Also worthy of consideration is the price of 6/5 (2.20) for the hosts to win with a -1 handicap and Chile have been in excellent scoring form at home, netting 11 times in their last four matches. Paraguay meanwhile have failed to score in three of their last four away matches, and their last trip to Chile saw them lose by a 2-0 scoreline.
