With a full schedule of Championship matches taking place this midweek, Al Hain-Cole has put together three solid bets for a treble worth over 3/1

The hectic Football League season has begun and while the likes of Liverpool and Celtic are battling in out for Champions League qualification across the next few days, there are a whole host of games from England's second tier that look worthy of consideration. Here are three picks from the Championship that could provide a handsome return.

Nottingham Forest vs Barnsley – Over 2.5 goals at 7/10 (1.70) with dabblebet

Having overcome former club Brentford 4-3 away from home on Saturday to make it three wins from the opening three matches, Mark Warburton will be extremely pleased with Nottingham Forest’s start to the campaign.

In contrast, Barnsley are yet to collect a point in the Championship so far and needed a last-minute winner to edge past League Two Morecambe 4-3 in the League Cup – making it eight goals conceded from just three competitive matches this season.

Considering Forest’s confident attacking form and the Tykes’ fragile-looking backline, odds of 7/10 (1.70) seem generous on two teams that shared eight goals in two league meetings last year providing at least over 2.5 at Oakwell.

Cardiff City vs Sheffield United – Under 2.5 goals at 4/6 (1.67) with dabblebet

Top of the league with two wins from two and not a goal conceded so far, Neil Warnock must be feeling particularly confident of victory when Cardiff take on his former club Sheffield United.

However, while the Blades have scored just once in their opening two matches, they have also only let one goal in at the other end of the pitch – suggesting a tight battle should be on the cards.

With both sides looking particularly strong at the back, odds of 4/6 (1.67) are not to be missed on them ensuring under 2.5 goals are scored for their fourth consecutive encounter in this one.

Middlesbrough vs Burton Albion – Middlesbrough to win at 1/2 (1.50) with dabblebet

After being thoroughly outclassed in a 4-1 defeat against Hull City at the weekend, Burton Albion will be cursing the fixture list for pitting them against yet another Premier League dropout in the very next match.

Although not good enough for the top flight, Middlesbrough looked very much back in their comfort zone when Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Sheffield United made it 16 wins and just one defeat in 22 Championship matches at the Riverside Stadium.

Having only conceded seven goals in that run, Boro should prove far too strong for Nigel Clough’s team in another comfortable home victory on Tuesday.
