Leonardo Jardim’s team reached the semi-final stage of this competition last term and the French champions have enjoyed a solid start to the season in domestic competition, having lost just two of their opening 11 matches of the league season.
In this competition, though, Monaco have faltered badly; Jardim’s charges have taken just one point from their opening three Group G games and they could well crash out of the competition should they fail to take all three points here; Betsafe offer 11/5 (3.20) that the visitors kickstart their campaign with a win against the Turkish champions.
Besiktas, though, are buoyant; Senol Gunes’ side claimed a superb 2-1 win when they travelled to take on Monaco in the reverse fixture and, having won each of their opening three group games, a win here will ensure the Turkish team of a place in the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in their history – a 32/25 (2.28) chance with Betsafe.
The same firm go 27/10 (3.70) that the match ends in stalemate, a result that would, undoubtedly, be better for the hosts than for Jardim’s team in the context of reaching the next round.
There have been goals at both ends in six of the last seven matches that Besiktas have contested, while Monaco have scored in all but one of their last 11 matches on the road in this competition; Betsafe offer just 13/25 (1.52) that there are goals at both ends, while the same firm go 67/100 (1.67) that there are at least three goals scored when these two teams lock horns.
Worrying for the visitors, though, is that Monaco have won just one of their last six Champions League clashes on their travels, whereas Besiktas have gone six matches without defeat on their own patch in this competition – with Arsenal and Napoli amongst the notable visitors that have failed to claim victory.
Given the precarious position that Jardim’s team find themselves in, the French champions will surely go on the offensive and Betsafe offer 129/100 (2.29) that that the visitors score more than one goal in this match, while the same firm go 17/4 (5.25) that Monaco manage more than two goals.
Besiktas, though, are a team full of confidence and, with history within reach, Sunol’s side may offer decent value at 32/25 (2.28) with Betsafe to secure a place in the knockout stages in style by beating Monaco on Wednesday night.
