The Cottagers travel to Oakwell in their first Championship game since Premier League relegation and our tipster thinks they will start in style

Fulham begin their Championship campaign with a trip to newly-promoted Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.

The Cottagers were relegated from the Premier League last season after a dismal year in the top flight and will be looking to start strongly as they bid to go straight back up.

Barnsley, meanwhile, finished second in League One to return to the second tier after a year away.

Latest Odds

bet365 make the visitors 6/5 (2.20) favourites to make it three victories in a row at Oakwell, having also won there in the 2016-17 and 17-18 seasons.

The Tykes are 5/2 (3.50) shots to claim their first Championship win since April 2018, whilst the draw is also available at 5/2 (3.50).

Team News

Aleksandar Mitrovic should lead the line for Fulham, while loanees Ivan Cavaleiro and Anthony Knockaert will both be pushing for a starting spot.

Former Cottagers striker Cauley Woodrow could start for Barnsley after making his loan move permanent. The 24-year-old scored 16 goals in 31 League One games last season.

Although it was a disastrous season in the Premier League for Fulham, Scott Parker actually still boasts many of the players who won promotion in May 2018.

Mitrovic, Ryan Sessegnon and Tom Cairney were all vital cogs in that play-off winning campaign and the latter two struggled to settle in the top flight, but will be determined to re-discover their best form in the Championship.

Whilst the Tykes were impressive in gaining promotion from League One at the first time of asking, it is difficult to see them getting anything out of this clash against a superior side.

Tips and Predictions

Oakwell can be a tough place to go, with Barnsley remaining unbeaten in the league there last season, but Fulham have won on their last two visits and the 6/5 (2.20) quote with bet365 on another victory for them looks too good to miss.
