Gareth Bale has refused to divulge his future plans amid talk of an imminent exit at Real Madrid, but has conceded that a spell in China would appeal.

It has been suggested that the Wales international is approaching a career crossroads, with a Spanish adventure set to be brought to a close after five years.

At 28 years of age, Bale still has plenty of top-level football in him and is being linked with leading sides in England, Italy and Germany.

He is giving little away when it comes to the summer transfer window, but has said he would welcome the opportunity to grace the CSL at some stage.

Bale told reporters while on international duty at the China Cup: “It’s a great country with great people.

“In terms of the future I’m not too sure, I haven’t really looked that far to be honest.

“But I’m sure that if I ever did come I’ll be looked after very well.

“Whenever I come to China we always have such an amazing reception from the Chinese fans. They’ve been very welcoming to all of us, not just me. They look after us really well.”

Bale has enjoyed his latest visit to Asia, with a hat-trick in a 6-0 demolition of China seeing him become Wales’ all-time leading goalscorer.

He has another international outing to come against Uruguay on Monday but will not be gracing this summer’s World Cup finals.

Having made it to the semi-finals of Euro 2016, Bale admits that failure to qualify for Russia 2018 has come as a “massive disappointment” to all concerned with the Wales set-up.

He is, however, all the more determined to make Qatar 2022, adding: "It was a massive disappointment for all of us not to reach the World Cup having experienced the Euros, which was incredible.

"But normally if we do well in one campaign we die away in the next. We were right there until the end, so we have to take the positives.

"Losing and missing out on the World Cup makes us even more hungry to qualify next time."
