Atiker Konyaspor are reportedly interested in Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Khama Billiat

According to reports, Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat could join Turkish Super Lig outfit Atiker Konyaspor iat the start of the 2018 as speculation surrounding his future continues to grow.

Billiat is currently in his final year at Chloorkop and with both parties still locked in negotiations over a new and improved deal, a move away from Tshwane looks likely.

He has previously been reported to have attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr having previously made a bid for the Zimbabwean. But due to Sundowns’ laboured approach to their offer, Al-Nassr eventually withdrew from the move.

Nonetheless, local media now suggests that Konyaspor are the latest club to have joined the race for Billiat, but it remains to be seen whether or not the club will make a move for the mercurial attacker.

Meanwhile, Goal contacted Sundowns’ spokesman Thulani Thuswa for clarity on the matter, but it proved fruitless, as he denied knowing anything about Konyaspor’s interest.

“I have no idea, that is the first time I am hearing about this,” Thuswa told Goal.

However, Thuswa did offer to come back with an official comment, but at the time publishing, Goal was yet to hear back from the club.

Nevertheless, if Billiat is to make the move to Turkey then he will link up with another former Premier Soccer League star in Lebogang Manyama.

Manyama completed his move to the Anatolian Eagle from Cape Town City during the July/August transfer window.
