Appiah warns Kotoko against 'terrible' weather conditions in Kenya

Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has urged Asante Kotoko to adequately prepare for the Caf Confederation Cup first leg fixture against Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks slated for December 13.

Appiah called on the Porcupine Warriors to consider acclimatisation exercise in a country close to Kenya to be able to deal with the high altitude during the game.

"I believe Asante Kotoko must be careful with the weather conditions in Kenya before they play Kariobangi Sharks because it can be a disadvantage to them," Appiah told Abusua FM.

"When the Black Stars faced Ethiopia in the 2019 Afcon qualifiers, the players struggled throughout the second-half because they couldn't breath properly. The weather in Kenya and Ethiopia are almost the same and it is at times terrible for visitors.

"If they train well and go into the game with a well-rehearsed plan, they can achieve a good result. They can even spend few days in one of the neighbouring countries so that they can be ready," he added.

Goal understands that Kotoko will pitch camp in Kenyan capital of Nairobi on Wednesday, four days ahead of the matchday. The second leg will take place on December 20 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
