The Black Stars coach, who arrived in the country on Friday, says he will make the team successful with support from all Ghanaians

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has assured he would turn around the fortunes of the Black Stars after arriving in the country from Sudan on Friday.

The 56-year-old, who replaced former coach Avram Grant, thanked Ghanaians for their trust.

"I really appreciate everyone who came to welcome me. You spent your time and money to come here, I really appreciate that," Appiah said.

"I always believe the voice of the people is the voice of God. I will take this opportunity to thank the president of the nation, the Ghana FA and every Ghanaian for giving me the second chance to coach the national team.

"I will do the best I can to make the national team successful but I can never do it without your help. I will need the prayers and support of every Ghanaian to make our Black Stars great again," he added.

Appiah has got a difficult task ahead of him as Ghana are unlikely to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. With one point from two games and sitting third on the log, while trailing leaders Egypt on five points, the Black Stars’ chances are very slim.
