Selangor produced their first win against Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) since 2013, defeating the Southern Tigers 3-2 in their Group D Malaysia Cup match on Tuesday.

Head coach Maniam Pachaiappan was full of praise for his men in the post-match press conference, but he also found the time to express his gratitude towards the home fans.

"I want to thank the supporters who were behind us and gave us the motivation to play better.

"We got the third goal because the fans supported us," said the former Selangor player.

His sentiment was echoed by man of the match Amri Yahyah, who scored Selangor's second and third goal.

"We were playing at home tonight, thank you to the home fans for being behind us through thick and thin.

"Praise Allah, all of us played our best tonight," said the Malaysia international.

In the match, Selangor found two quick goals in the 33rd and 35th minute through Fairuz Abdul Aziz and Amri, but Hazwan Bakri and Darren Lok levelled the score in the 56th and 69th minute for the visitors. Forkey Doe was brought down in the penalty box in injury time, and Amri coolly slotted the spot kick to give the Red Giants the all three points, which allowed them to snatch the top spot in the group from JDT.
