Get to know the latest of Arabian Gulf League Champions Al Jazira before they face Al Wahda

The Baniyas Stadium opens its doors to the Abu Dhabi Derby between Al Jazira and Al Wahda for the UAE Arabian Gulf Super Cup on the 20th of January 2018, at 20:00. The game was supposed to be played in Egypt on the 4th of January, but the UAE national team’s qualification to the Gulf Cup Final postponed the game and it was decided that it will be played on UAE grounds.

Despite the Spider being the Champions of last year’s league season, the team is facing a tough current season as they sit in 5th place with 17 points, bettered by Al Nasr in 4th place on goal difference and 8 points away from 3rd place (Al Wasl). They are a grand total of 11 points behind league leaders Al Ain.

Al Jazira are coming away from an important 1-0 win against Ittihad Kalba in the Round of 16 of the UAE President’s Cup, and this is their second win ever since coming back from the FIFA Club World Cup in December. Al Jazira will be hoping that this win can help them get back on track, as they previously lost to Al Wahda 4-2 and drew with Ajman 1-1 in the league.
