The Urban Warriors were struggling to find a suitable venue for their Saturday's home match against Amakhosi, and wanted a bigger venue to accomodate the expected crowd due to initial security concerns.
There were concerns at the start of the week that game could possibly be postponed.
However, following a meeting with the stakeholders involved, the Mother City outfit received the go ahead to host Chiefs at Athlone Stadium.
It is reported that only 34 000 tickets will be sold for this encounter.
With the Cape Town Stadium unavailable, Ajax initially wanted to move the clash to the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, but they could secure the venue.
This will be first time the Urban Warriors host the Amakhosi at the venue situated in the hub of the Cape flats since January 2009.
The clash on that occasion ended in a goalless draw with Craig Rosslee and Muhsin Ertugral managing Ajax and Chiefs respectively.
The last time though the Amakhosi played at the venue, they went down 2-1 to former PSL side Santos in the 2011/12 season.
