Chevrolet has agreed a deal with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to take the naming rights to the country’s elite soccer league, the Brasileirão.
Details of the General Motors-owned car brand’s partnership have not been released but according to reports in Brazil, it is likely to have signed a multi-year agreement. The league, which kicked off last weekend, will now be known as the Brasileirão Chevrolet.
The sponsorship will be promoted with a composite logo, while pitchside hoardings appeared during the first round of matches in the 2014 season last weekend.
Chevrolet replaces Petrobras as the league’s main sponsor. The Brazilian energy multinational had held the role for two years.
