Organisers of the United Arab Emirates League Cup have rebranded the competition the Arabian Gulf Cup ahead of this year’s final later this month.
The name change reflects the new title sponsor of the competition, Arabian Gulf Development. The changes have been ratified by the Pro League Committee (PLC), which runs club soccer in the UAE on behalf of the country’s national federation.
The 2014 final, between Al Jazira and Al Ahli, is scheduled for 19th April at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.
Mohammed Thani Murshed Al Romaithi, the chairman of PLC, said the new logo and identity of the competition “reflects a great synergy between the league and the cup, and demonstrates the continuing strength of our partnership with Arabian Gulf Development.”
