19-year-old Acheampong put pen to paper on his first professional deal with the Corsican side on Wednesday, having previously represented the University of Santa Barbara.
The forward—who is part of the Ghana U-20 set up—clearly has some high-profile admirers, with various big-name players taking to Twitter to acknowledge the youngster’s move.
“Congrats my man!” wrote de Jong, who currently represents Los Angeles Galaxy. “Now the real work starts.”
Shaun Wright-Phillips, currently on the books of New York Red Bulls is clearly another admirer, presumably following the pair’s mutual time together in the United States.
“Congrats bro!!” the former England winger began on his @swp29 handle. “Do what we know you do.”
Finally, Bayern Munich’s Boateng—currently on international duty with Germany at Euro 2016—shared a photo of Acheampong signing for the Ligue 1 side on social media, a post appreciated by some of his 1.5 million Twitter followers.
The attacker was born in Sunyani, Brong-Ahafo Region in 1997.
