Almeria have joined Elche in the race to sign Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey on loan from Atletico Madrid, Goal Ghana can exclusively reveal.
The Spanish La Liga side finished above the drop zone last season and head coach Francisco Rodriguez has identified the 21-year-old enforcer as one of the key men who could bring stability in their middle.
Partey, who is owned by Atletico, was loaned to Real Mallorca last season and played 38 games scoring five goals.
A product of local Odometah FC's youth ranks, Partey signed a contract with the 2014 Uefa Champions League losing finalists in 2011, and was subsequently moved to the reserves a year later.
Elche have also been pursuing him as Atletico weigh their options.
