Anthony Annan returns to action after one-year injury lay-off

The 27-year-old finally returned to the pitch on Monday after a long injury setback

Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan has made a return to action after playing for Schalke 04 on Monday night in Doha.

The former Hearts of Oak player was given the chance to take part in Schalke’s friendly match against Qatari side Al Gharafa which ended 2-1 in favour of the German side.

Annan was introduced in the game in the 64th minute to end his one-year absence due to a career threatening ankle injury.

He will now be hoping to be involved in the campaign of the Royal Blues in the second round of the season. There are also reports of a possible move to Turkey.

If the former Rosenborg BK midfielder gets active in the upcoming months, he could end up making a strong case for himself ahead of the announcement of Ghana’s World Cup squad in May.
