Hasaacas Ladies defeat Fabulous Ladies 2-1 on Saturday to become champions of the maiden Ghana Women’s League.
The Southern sector table-toppers proved superior over their Ashanti region counterparts in the Championship play-off at the Accra Sports Stadium in a game that witnessed three penalties.
Hasaacas converted two whiles Fabulous Ladies managed just one. The latter were the first to open the score sheet when Agnes Aduako was brought down in the box. She converted nicely to put her side in the lead.
Jennifer Cudjoe leveled for the green-shirted ladies also from the spot ensuring they move into the interval with a 1-1 score line. When the game resumed it was Hasaacas Ladies who were more determined to break the deadlock, but Fabulous Ladies' goalkeeper Opoku Jennifer was their barrier to goal.
The turning moment came when Hasaacas were awarded a penalty with about 10 minutes to end proceedings. Cudjoe once again stepped up and made it two for her side.
The champions have been unbeaten in the Southern Zone amassing 22 points before the playoff with Prisons Ladies coming second in the zone with 19 points.
Fabulous Ladies, who got to the final after leading the Northern Zone with 28 points with Soccer Intellectuals placing second with 19 points.
