Ayew wins Afcon 2015 goal king award

The inspirational winger scored three goals to be conferred with the highest goal scorer honours at the Cup of Nations

Andre Ayew emerged the top scorer at the Africa Cup of Nations 2015 with three goals.

The Olympic Marseille winger opened Ghana’s account in Equatorial Guinea when he scored in a 1-2 defeat against Senegal in the opening game.

He scored against South Africa in the final group game with a brilliant header that aided the Black Stars’ progression to the knockout stage.

The son of football legend Abedi Ayew Pele was also on target against hosts Equatorial Guinea in the semi-final to increase his tally to three goals ahead of the final against Ivory Coast.

Ayew also provided the highest number of assists. Although he did not score in open play in the final against the Elephants, he converted his spotkick but was not enough to end Ghana’s 33 years of waiting for a fifth continental trophy.
