Commentary

That is all for tonight folks, thanks for tuning in. Goodbye!
Roma beat CSKA 3-0 in the other game, but Madrid sit top of the pile after three games in Europe. Lopetegui may now get the chance to take on Barcelona at the weekend but the pressure is still rife in the capital.
A huge relief for Madrid as they finally end their five-match winless run by beating Plzen in Group G. Goals from Benzema and Marcelo did the damage but Plzen showed so much heart and deserved their goal. In the end, Hrosovsky's effort was just a consolation but Madrid still need to improve in many areas if they are to challenge for silverware this season. They looked good until the final third and shaky at the back.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME - Real Madrid 2-1 Viktoria Plzen.

M. Díaz
K. Benzema
Real Madrid
88' Benzema receives a standing ovation as he is replaced by Mariano.
86' Benzema charges down the left wing before crossing to the far post but he fails to find a team-mate. His effort deserved more than that.

84' TACKLE!!! Plzen nearly find a way through at the back post as Krmencik brings the ball down but he is stopped in his tracks by Nacho thanks to his superb sliding tackle.
81' Here come the jeers and the nerves are no doubt going to get worse for the Madrid players. They need to hold on here, but Plzen have a new lease of life after that goal.
A. Čermák
Assist

78' Cermak claims the assist and it is game on in Madrid!
P. Hrošovský
Goal
Viktoria Plzeň
78' GOAAALLLL!!!! Hrosovsky pulls a goal back for Plzen and it is now 2-1. The Plzen midfielder followed his pass into the box and he was then given the chance to slot past Navas which he took with both hands.
78' CHANCE! Asensio peels away down the left wing and he wastes no time as he tries to play in Vazquez. However, the make-shift right-back misses with his header when it looked easier to score.
U. Moses
M. Havel
Viktoria Plzeň
76' Havel is also off the field and on comes Ekpai.
Marco Asensio
G. Bale
Real Madrid
75' Bale's night is over and he is replaced by Asensio.
74' Madrid really should be out of sight in this game but their lack of confidence in front of goal is showing.
71' GOAL DISALLOWED - Benzema taps in for what he thinks is his second of the evening. However, the linesman claims Modric was offside before he played the cross into the striker.
70' Bale nearly makes amends seconds later, but his latest shot is blocked and Benzema cannot pounce onto the rebound.
69' WIDE!! Bale races past two defenders on the edge of the box before curling a shot towards the top corner. He is inches away from finding the net but he continues to get closer.
67' Madrid win their 10th corner of the evening but Plzen clear quickly before conceding possession.
T. Hořava
R. Procházka

65' First change of the night for Plzen as Prochazka is replaced by Horava.
63' CLOSE - Bale swings in a cross looking for Benzema before it is cleared away and that comes on the back of a stinging shot from Modric which was saved by Hruska.
60' Benzema has scored more headed goals than any other La Liga player this season in all competitions. Plzen will need to watch out for him in the box for the rest of the night.
T. Kroos

Real Madrid
59' Kroos now becomes the third man into the referee's book.
58' Madrid in total control now and they will be confident they can now go on to grab a third or even a fourth.
G. Bale
Assist
Real Madrid
55' Bale caps off a fine performance with an assist after his inside pass carved open the Plzen backline.
Marcelo
Goal
Real Madrid
55' GOAAAALLLL MADRID 2-0 Plzen - Marcelo is the man of the moment and he points to the club's crest as he wheels away in delight. The Brazil international worked a one-two on the edge of the box before chipping the ball over Hruska.
F. Valverde
Isco
Real Madrid
54' First change of the night sees Isco come off and Valverde enters the game.
54' Like Benzema, it is a big night for Bale this evening. He is making his 200th Real Madrid appearance tonight in all competitions.
53' Bale tries to make it 2-0 from the edge of the box but the forward leans back as he strikes the ball and it sails into the stands.
52' CHANCE! Plzen cause more problems on the counter as Havel tries his luck with a volley. The midfielder charged in from the right wing to have a shot but he could only slice his effort past the near post.
51' Nothing comes of that set-piece and it remains 1-0.
50' Plzen respond immediately and win a corner after Casemiro clears a cross.
49' The first chance of the second half falls for the home side but Benzema's cross fails to pick out anyone else in a white shirt.
46' We are back underway in Madrid.
Madrid will be confident they can soon start to kill the game once they get a second but Plzen have shown they can be a real threat on the counter. Bring on the second half.
Benzema's header in the 11th minute is the difference in this Group G clash, but we really could have had six goals already tonight. Although Plzen should have conceded the majority of them, they have had three opportunities of their own. How it is still 1-0 is anyone’s guess!
45' HALF-TIME: Madrid 1-0 Plzen.
44' WHAT A MISS!!!!!!!! Petrzela is left in a heap in embarrassment as he misses from six yards out. He stayed onside and simply had to tap in a cross from the right, but he leans back and lifts the ball over the bar.
42' CHANCE - Bale races onto another pass inside the box but he never gets control of the ball and he eventually dribbles his way into trouble and Hruska dives in the way to thwart the danger.
41' Vazquez goes down in the box after Limbersky tries to block him off but the winger is told to get to his feet. Interesting call from the officials!
39' This game is being played at an incredible speed and Plzen's players are struggling to keep up. Madrid really should be out of sight!
37' SAVE! Hruska has shrugged off that mistake as he makes a sensational one-handed save to deny Isco from a corner.
36' Perhaps the pressure is getitng to Hruska. This is his Champions League debut after all.
35' WIDE! Madrid waste another glorious opportunity after Hruska places his team into trouble. The Plzen keeper gifts Isco possession in the box and instead of passing to Benzema he fails to score with a chipped effort.
33' GOAL DISALLOWED!!! Kroos splits the Plzen defence with a superb pass and Bale races onto it and fires into the bottom corner. The crowd inside the Santiago Bernabeu go wild but the flag is up for offside.
Isco
Yellow Card
Real Madrid
32' Isco is now into the book after a strong challenge and he has no complaints.
31' RESPONSE! After nearly conceding at the other end, Madrid charge forward and nearly make it two-nil. Benzema had time to turn and shoot but he was forced wide and Hruska did well to smother his shot.
30' WIDE!!!! Plzen break forward down the left and Limbersky latches onto a throughball from Petrzela on the edge of the box. The left-back runs towards the goal but he fails to put any spin on his shot and he fires wide of the far post.
29' There is still plenty of noise coming from the home crowd but some of the fans may feel that Madrid should be two up by now.
D. Limberský
Yellow Card
Viktoria Plzeň
27' Limbersky is the first man into the book after he clips Vazquez in midfield.
25' Big moment for Benzema tonight after his goal. He has become the third player in Champions League history to score in 14 consecutive seasons, after Lionel Messi and Raul Gonzalez.
23' Benzema looks up for this one and he tries to set up a team-mate inside the box. The former Lyon man dribbled his way past several defenders, but his cross could only find Plzen's Hejda in the end
21' Madrid go close again after Bale plays in Marcelo but the offside flag denies the left-back.
19' Isco drops into midfield to collect possession before spinning and playing a throughball to Bale. The Wales international looks destined to have a shot on goal but he is denied by a late deflection from Plzen and the chance goes begging.
17' Madrid continue to pile forward but they are struggling to find the gaps at present.
15' Plzen have now started to sit behind the ball and they are still being put under immense pressure.
13' The opening goal is just what Madrid needed here at home. The nerves will now settle but the tempo is still frantic and we could be in for a high-scoring contest.
Lucas Vázquez
Assist
Real Madrid
11' Vazquez, who is playing at right-back tonight, picks out a perfect cross for Benzema.
K. Benzema
Goal
Real Madrid
11' GOAAALLLLLL MADRID 1-0 Plzen!!! Benzema opens the scoring thanks to a fine header at the far post. The Frenchman stayed onside and peeled away from the last defender before slotting the ball past Hruska.
11' CHANCE!!! Madrid fall asleep at the back and Petrzela sneaks in behind before having two efforts on goal. His first is blocked by the legs of Navas before he can only shoot into the side netting. That was a huge opportunity for the visitors.
10' Madrid's fans are behind them tonight but that could soon change if they fail to open the scoring. Six games without a win would be unheard of for the Spanish giants.
9' Bale shows his appreciation for Marcelo's looping ball over the top, but the former Tottenham man cannot get onto the end of the pass. Plzen survive again and they will now build out from the back.
7' Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last 26 home Champions League group stage games. Their last defeat came against AC Milan in 2009 and they will be confident of extending that run after this start.
5' OFF THE POST!!! Madrid win their third corner and Ramos tries his luck for a second time. The centre-back is gifted a free header but his effort bounces off the floor and then the upright before Hruska dives on the rebound.
3' CHANCE - Madrid win another corner and Ramos wrestles away from his marker to head towards goal but he can only place his effort over the bar.
2' Strong start from the hosts as they win a free-kick and a corner in quick succession.
1' We're underway at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Vrba makes two changes for tonight as Zeman and Horava drop out for Havel and Cermak. Kick off now moments away as the two teams enter the field of play.
Lopetegui makes five changes from the team that lost to Levante as Navas, Nacho, Kroos, Bale and Benzema all come in for Courtois, Odriozola, Varane, Asensio and Diaz.
Plzen subs: Pavel Bucha, Ubong Ekpai, Tomas Chory, Jakub Reznicek, Ludek Pernica, Tomas Horava, Matus Kozacik.
VIKTORIA PLZEN XI (4-2-3-1): Ales Hruska; Radim Reznik, Lukas Hejda, Roman Hubnik (c), David Limbersky; Patrik Hrosovsky, Roman Prochazka; Milan Havel, Ales Cermak, Milan Petrzela; Michal Krmencik.
Madrid subs: Vinicius Junior, Thibaut Courtois, Mariano Diaz, Federico Valverde, Marco Asensio, Alvaro Odriozola, Raphael Varane.
REAL MADRID XI (4-3-3): Keylor Navas; Lucas Vazquez, Nacho Fernandez, Sergio Ramos (c), Marcelo; Luka Modric, Casemiro, Toni Kroos; Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Isco.
Plzen have been in much better form than their rivals, with Pavel Vrba's side winning three of their last five. They were hammered 5-0 in their last Champions League clash, but they did pick up a draw in week one against CSKA.
The Spanish giants are in disarray at present after they failed to win any of their last five matches in all competitions. Julen Lopetegui's troops lost to CSKA Moscow in their last game in Europe and reports claim the former Spain job is close to the exit door. Madrid have scored just one goal in their last five outings, so they will be hoping that a win tonight could give them some confidence going forward.
Good evening and welcome to tonight's live coverage of the Champions League encounter between Real Madrid and Viktoria Plzen from Group G. Both of these teams lost their match in the competition so let's hope for a good response from both at the Santiago Bernabeu.
