The 'Slum Boys' beat Sony 2-1 in the first leg, but the Millers paid back to pile pressure on coach Francis Kimanzi

Tobias Otieno hit a brace to help Sony Sugar pick their second straight victory following a 2-0 win over Mathare United on Sunday

The victory, that comes after another well fought 2-0 win over Sofapaka two weeks ago, lifted Sony to 13th place on the log even as Mathare United’s poor run stretched to seven winless runs.

Otieno gave Sony Sugar the lead with a third-minute long-range shot that gave Mathare United keeper, David Okello very little time to make a decision.

Okello has now conceded an average of two goals per game in his last four matches in Mathare United shirt. The last time Mathare United kept a clean sheet was way back in May when they played a scoreless draw with Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium.

Sony Sugar continued to knock at Mathare United's door and Enock Agwanda forced Okello to a finger-tip save just a minute after Nato’s narrow miss as the Millers sought to squeeze maximum juice from Mathare’s flesh, early in the game.

But Otieno got his second goal of the day at the half-hour mark with another delightful lob over Okello from 25 yards out.

Agwanda almost punished the hosts for their wastefulness, but Okello came off his line to tip the former Gor Mahia and Bandari forward’s cross over the bar for a corner.

Tyson Otieno forced his way past three defenders but his final shot was well kept at bay by Omondi in the Sony goal as the visitors jealously guarded the two-goal lead.

Sony held on the lead to grab the vital three points that pushed them off the relegation zone.

Mathare United starting XI: David Okello, Samuel Olwande, Martin Ongori, Johnstone Omurwa, James Situma, Francis Omondi, Alphonce Ndonye, Chrispin Oduor, Cliff Nyakeya, John Mwangi and Clifford Alwanga.
