Madrid will meet Chelsea in the semi-final, with the first leg taking place two weeks from now. Their attention turns back to the LaLiga title race now and their match against Getafe at the weekend. Liverpool's Champions League run is over and next up for them is Leeds United in the Premier League on Monday.
It finishes goalless on the night, with Real Madrid through to the semi-final after beating Liverpool 3-1 on aggregate. Liverpool had some great chances to get themselves back into the tie, with Salah denied by Courtois in the second minute. Milner and Firmino also saw efforts well saved by the keeper. The damage was done in the first leg and Madrid were defensively solid throughout today to see out the tie.

Oxlade-Chamberlain wins the ball back in his own half and makes a brilliant driving run down the left for Liverpool. Madrid can't get close to him before he whips a cross into the box but Nacho is there to clear it ahead of Salah.

GOOD SAVE! Thiago is alert as he steps in front of Casemiro to intercept Mendy's pass and he plays in Salah first time. It's a tight angle on the right of the box, but he goes for goal anyway and Courtois comes out to smother the shot at his near post.
Madrid are happy to continue sitting deep in their own half while Liverpool keep the ball in front of them and the hosts look like they're out of ideas. Robertson whips another hopeful cross into the box, but it's over everyone's head and harmlessly out of play.
Liverpool have been slow to get players into the box in the last few minutes but Salah makes a driving run into the middle when he sees Shaqiri lift the ball over Madrid's defence. Yet again though, Militao is there and he clears his lines.
Casemiro's touch lets him down and Thiago is there to win it back for Liverpool as he slots it through for Jota on the left of the box. He tries to drill a low cross into the middle, but Militao makes another important block to take it away from Salah.
Liverpool are still pushing high upfield, but there's just no space for them in the final third. Thiago switches play out to Robertson on the left, but can't find any room either and Rodrygo gets across to nick it off him.
Madrid are making a change here as well and Zidane is bringing on Isco for Asensio.
Firmino is also taken off, with Shaqiri on in his place.
There's another double change for Liverpool now and it's Mane going off for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
GREAT CHANCE! Odriozola whips a brilliant cross into the box from the right and Benzema is unmarked in the middle. He gets on the end of it, sending his header into the ground and it bounces over Alisson and onto the roof of the net.
It's a brilliant touch from Asensio to bring down Courtois' clearance on the edge of the box as he pulls it away from Asensio before touching it forward for Mendy. He drills a low cross into the box, but it's blocked by Alexander-Arnold.
It's patient play from Liverpool as they try to open up Madrid, who have dropped deep to close off the space. Thiago curls an early throughball forward for Salah down the left, but Militao is there for Madrid again.
Madrid are keeping the ball better now but they're still in no hurry to get forward and put Liverpool's defence under pressure. Benzema holds it up well while he waits for support but then ends up gifting it to Phillips.
Benzema just outmuscles Fabinho in midfield and drives forward towards the box on the counter. He lays it off to Odriozola on the right and he floats a cross into the far post, but it's just too high for Rodrygo.
Vinicius is also going off, with Rodrygo on to replace him.
Double change for Madrid now and Kroos is being taken off for Odriozola who drops into the right-back position.
The corner is taken short to Robertson and he pulls it back for Jota on the left of the box. He cuts inside to get space for a shot and two Madrid defenders throw themselves in front of it, with Militao getting an important touch to send his shot into the side netting.
Alexander-Arnold does really well to keep the ball in play at the byline on the right and he heads it back across the box to Firmino. He takes the shot early but Militao gets ahead of Courtois to put it out for a corner.
Liverpool are throwing everything at Madrid at the moment as they try to get themselves an important goal. Alexander-Arnold threads it into Salah, but he takes too many touches before getting his shot away which gives Nacho the chance to get across and block it.
GOOD SAVE! It's a great pass over the top from Valverde to pick out Vinicius through the middle and he nods it away from Phillips to get into the box. He tries to flick it over Alisson, who came rushing off his line, but the keeper smothers it and reacts quickly to stop Kroos from getting on the follow-up.
Liverpool are keeping Madrid penned back deep in their own half at the moment, but the hosts just can't find a way in behind them at the moment. Salah tries to thread it into Jota, but Casemiro is in the way of it for Madrid again.
It's a sloppy pass from Benzema into Modric on the halfway line and Wijnaldum comes away with it for Liverpool. He touches it out to Mane on the right and he has options to aim for in the box, but he hits his cross against Mendy.
The other is an attacking change as Kabak is taken off, with Jota on to replace him and add another option for Liverpool up top.
There's a double change for Liverpool here and Milner is the first to make way, with Thiago on for him.
Casemiro gets his pass away before Phillips runs into him and blocks him off which earns him a yellow card.
Madrid are in no hurry to move the ball upfield when they do win it back and Mendy waits too long before playing in Vinicius ahead of him on the left. Alexander-Arnold spots the danger and he times his tackle perfectly to intercept the throughball.
Alexander-Arnold squares the ball to Firmino and he lets it roll across him on the edge of the box before taking his shot. He tries to lift it over Courtois, but there's no dip on his effort and it flies high over the bar.
Mendy plays a one-two with Benzema on the edge of his box and continues his run into the box. Fabinho is with him the whole time, but the left-back manages to squeeze a cross into the middle towards Benzema, who is crowded off it by Liverpool.
Valverde does well down the right side again, pulling away from Robertson, before floating a cross into Benzema. He takes it down well before chipping it over Kabak, but it's a comfortable one for Alisson to come and collect.
Asensio just knocks it past Robertson to break forward on the right for Madrid before laying it off to Valverde. He fizzes a low cross into the six-yard box, with Benzema running onto it at the far post, but Phillips is there to cut it out.
Liverpool are pushing forward down the right again and Alexander-Arnold whips another good cross into the near post for Firmino. He tries to glance on the header and catch out Courtois, but he can't get the angle right and sends it wide of the target.
GOOD SAVE! It's a wonderful cross from Alexander-Arnold as he curls it into the box with the outside of his boot and he picks out Firmino at the near post. He drills a shot on goal, but it's straight at Courtois, who smothers it.
Madrid get us back underway for the second half!
Liverpool still need two goals if they want to go through, and they've looked good going forward, they just need to be more clinical with their chances. Despite creating few chances at the other end, Madrid have looked comfortable so far and Zidane will probably be hoping for more of the same after the break.
It's goalless at the break between Liverpool and Madrid, with the Spanish side still leading 3-1 on aggregate. Liverpool could've been ahead two minutes in, but Courtois saved Salah's shot. Milner also saw a curling effort pushed away from the top corner by the keeper. Benzema's cross deflected off Kabak and onto the post at the other end before Salah and Wijnaldum both fired over from good positions just before the break.

Mane knocks it out to Alexander-Arnold before continuing his run into the box to get the return pass. He chests it down and turns away from Nacho, but his foot slips out from under him before he can have a shot and the chance is gone for Liverpool.
Madrid are keeping the ball well again at the moment, but all of their possession is in front of Liverpool as they drop deep to block the space. The visitors are happy to just knock it around now though as they wait for the half-time whistle.
WHAT A MISS! Alexander-Arnold drives forward down the right and none of the Madrid players go over to close him down. He lays it off to Wijnaldum, who sets himself with a good first touch before leaning back and firing his shot high over the crossbar.
CHANCE! Wijnaldum brilliantly turns away from Kroos before lifting the ball forward for Mane. He squares it into the box and it's behind Firmino but Salah drops back to get on the end of it before swiping at the shot and sending it wide of the far post.
Mendy is slow to get out to Alexander-Arnold on the right and he cuts back to whip in a dangerous cross with his left foot. Mane is unmarked at the far post, but he's caught on his heels and it bounces just wide of the goal.
Asensio holds off Kabak to bring down Kroos' pass and he touches it back to Vinicius. He chips it over the defender with a great bit of skill and he has Benzema up with him in the box, but he ends up overrunning it straight out of play.
Robertson fizzes a low cross into Firmino on the edge of the box and he can't pull away from Nacho to open up space for a shot. He touches it back to Milner so he can whip a cross into the far post, but it's straight into Courtois' gloves.
It's patient play from Madrid as they move out from the back and are knocking it around comfortably in midfield. Modric drills a good throughball forward for Asensio, but he gives it away to Fabinho when he can't pick out a cross into the box.
A lot of Liverpool's attacks are coming down their left side at the moment and Mane turns away from Modric before driving forward again. He has Robertson up with him in support but plays the ball behind him and Valverde collects it for Madrid.
It's a patient attack from Liverpool down their left and Salah touches it inside to Firmino. Alexander-Arnold is sprinting down the right to get in on the attack and the forward tries to pick him out, but play the wrong pass and gifts it to Mendy.
Modric finds himself with a lot of space to run into down the right, but he just can't pick out a cross into the box as Liverpool are crowding it with their defenders and the midfielder is forced to go backwards.
Robertson was furious with the challenge on Milner and was making his feelings clear which earns him a booking for dissent.
There was a quick VAR check to see if it should be a red card for Casemiro's late challenge on Milner, but it's only a yellow for the Brazilian.
Casemiro is hobbling around in the middle of the pitch and it looks like he has a problem. Milner picks up the ball on the right though and the Brazilian is suddenly across to him and slides in with a late tackle.
Milner spins to get into a pocket of space in the middle of the pitch and plays an early throughball forward for Robertson to chase down the left. He sets himself to put an early cross into the box, but he hits it against Valverde.
OFF THE POST! Phillips' control lets him down and Benzema benefits from it as he breaks forward on the attack. He takes it past Kabak before trying to square it to Vinicius, but Kabak's interception sends it against the near post instead.
It's another mistake in midfield for Madrid as Modric loses out this time and Salah turns before playing an early throughball forward for Mane. He knocks it past Militao with his first touch but the defender recovers well and ends up winning a free-kick.
It's poor from Casemiro as he plays his pass straight into Salah under no pressure. He lays it off to Mane ahead of him on the right and Liverpool have won a free-kick in a good position, but Kabak heads over from the set-piece.
Madrid are enjoying a good spell of possession at the moment and they've just slowed the game down after the quick start. Liverpool are dropping deep though and making it difficult for the visitors to get forward.
Valverde loses out to Robertson and he cuts inside before switching play out to Alexander-Arnold on the right. He isn't closed down and is allowed to carry it forward by Madrid until he curls a cross into the far post, but Mane is offside.
GREAT SAVE! Liverpool break quickly again and Milner finds himself in space on the edge of the box after dragging the ball away from Militao. He curls his shot towards the far top corner and Courtois gets a strong hand to it to tip it wide of the goal.
Kroos pulls it back for Modric on the edge of the box and he dummies it, which catches out both Mane and Robertson, to open up space for a cross. He whips it into the far post, but the flag goes up against Benzema.
It's a sloppy pass out from the back by Kabak and he plays it straight against Asensio, but Liverpool aren't giving the visitors any time on the ball. Three defenders crowd him off the ball and Milner is there to sweep it clear.
Madrid just can't get out of their own half at the moment and Liverpool have a corner, which Alexander-Arnold plays short to Milner. He drills it into the middle of the box and Mendy reaches it just ahead of Salah.
Liverpool are on the attack again as Mane gets the better of Valverde down the left again. He plays a wonderful low cross into the near post, but Firmino can't reach it in time and Salah hits his cross against Mendy on the far side.
GOOD SAVE! It's a great start for Liverpool and they get in behind Madrid with a long ball over the top from Phillips. Mane squares it to Salah in the middle of the box and he takes it first time, but it's straight at Courtois, who saves it with his feet.

In 13 previous knockout ties in European competition where they've lost the first leg by 2+ goals, Liverpool have progressed twice. The most recent example was overturning a 0-3 first-leg deficit against Barcelona en route to winning the 2018-19 Champions League.
Just the one change from Zinedine Zidane as well after their win over Barcelona at the weekend. Asensio comes into the starting line-up, with Valverde dropping into right-back after Lucas Vazquez picked up a knee injury in that game.
Jurgen Klopp makes just one change to the side that beat Villa on Saturday as he brings in Mane for Jota, who drops to the bench.

Madrid breezed past Liverpool in the first leg with a 3-1 home win last Tuesday and they come into this game unbeaten in their last 13 in all competitions (W11 D2), winning the last six on the bounce. Mohamed Salah got an important away goal for the Reds though and they've won their last two matches at Anfield, beating RB Leipzig and Aston Villa, after an eight-game winless run there (D2 L6).
