Brentford are next in Premier League action against Leicester City next Sunday on home soil. Chelsea are back in Champions League action on Wednesday at home to Malmo.
Chelsea hold off an onslaught from Brentford to secure a 1-0 win in their Premier League clash at the Brentford Community Stadium. Ben Chilwell scored the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time with a stunning volley. However, the Bees will feel that they should have had a share of the spoils a Bryan Mbeumo hit the post twice, while Saman Ghoddos, Pontus Jansson and Christian Norgaard were all denied by outstanding saves from Edouard Mendy. The Blues did enough at the back to earn the three points and move back to the top of the table.

He connects brilliantly with his effort that travels towards goal at speed, but Mendy reacts to turn it over. It would have been a goal of the season contender had that one found the net.
90' + 2' Henry whips a cross into the box from the left flank, but Sarr is on point to hook it away. Anywhere will do for Chelsea at the moment.

Jansson pounces on a knockdown from Pinnock and steers a strike towards goal on the half-volley. Mendy anticipates the effort and throws himself in the way, using his face to stop the Brentford man finding the back of the net.
85' It is all one-way traffic at the moment as the Bees are all over the Blues. Mendy is keeping the Blues ahead here.
83' SAVE AND OFF THE LINE! Ghoddos latches on to a cross from Toney in the right-inside channel. He hammers a low strike towards goal, but Mendy throws his body in the way of the effort to deny the forward. Norgaard pounces on the rebound and turns to scoop a shot towards the net, but Chalobah reads the danger and puts himself in the perfect place to clear.
81' Loftus-Cheek chips a ball over the top of Pinnock towards the run of Werner. However, the German is on his heels and Raya gathers ahead of the forward.
79' BLOCK! It's all hands on deck for Chelsea at the back. Havertz fails to clear the danger from a Zanka throw and the ball falls to Forss. He hammers a left-footed strike low and hard towards the net, but Azpilicueta blocks his attempt.

76' Lukaku is withdrawn by Tuchel, although he has been an important player at the back for the Blues rather than going forward. Havertz replaces the Belgian.
76' OFFSIDE! Jensen floats a perfect ball over the top for Toney, who chests it down away from Chalobah. The defender panics and pulls back the forward in the box. There is an anxious wait for the visitors, but the flag goes up for offside first against the Brentford man. 
75' MBEUMO HITS THE POST AGAIN! The forward is played into the right-inside channel by Forss and has space to strike. He hits a low effort on his left foot that beats Mendy, but it cannons of the right post and bounces to safety. Brentford are knocking on the door.
74' Mendy has to aware once again as a long ball over the top from Zanka almost breaks for Toney. However, Mendy races out to clear downfield to clear on the slide.
73' SAVE! Mendy is alert to deny Toney. Zanka launches a long throw into the Chelsea box that is flicked on by Pinnock. Toney takes on the strike first time on the volley, but his effort is straight at the Blues keeper, who pushes it behind for a corner.

70' BLOCK! Werner finds space in the final third and aims to shoot. Brentford have men back and Jansson makes the block, but the loose ball falls to Lukaku. Fortunately for the Bees, the Belgian blazes his effort over the bar, although he was offside anyway.
68' Jensen and Toney combine in the final third to great effect. The two players exchange penetrating passes, but the forward misses his strike when well placed in the box and his backheel pass towards Forss is blocked.

Ben Chilwell's strike on the stroke of half-time has Chelsea a 1-0 lead over Brentford in their Premier League clash. The Bees came close to breaking the deadlock, but Bryan Mbeumo was denied by the post. Timo Werner then placed a strike over the bar for the Blues. The contest appeared to be heading to the interval goalless before Chilwell found the net with a brilliant strike.

45' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! CHILWELL SCORES A STUNNER!!!! 1-0 CHELSEA!! The full-back latches on to a loose ball on the edge of the box and hammers a strike on his left-foot into the top-left corner. Jansson does well to keep a cross from Azpilicueta away from Lukaku, but Chilwell capitalises after being left unmarked with a super strike to break the deadlock.
44' Mbeumo has the chance to deliver a cross into the Chelsea box from the right corner flag, but the ball goes straight down the throat of Mendy.
42' Toney and Mbeumo attempt to press the Chelsea defence, but Sarr holds up well and slides to clear the ball away from the latter on the charge.
40' Raya displays a decisive nature to protect his defence. First the Spaniard comes off his line to punch Chilwell's corner away before come through a crowd to claim the second delivery from the England man.
39' Jansson makes a vital intervention at the back for the Bees. The defender prevents Werner's low pass from reaching the Belgian 10 yards out before the home side scramble the danger away.
37' CHANCE! WERNER SHOULD SCORE! Lukaku latches on to a long ball forward from Christensen and knocks it into the path of Werner on the edge of the box. The forward has space and time to line up his right-footed strike, but he places his attempt over the bar. Werner should at least be hitting the target.
36' Chalobah tries to thread a pass through to Werner in the right-inside channel, but Raya spots the danger and scampers off his line to smother the ball ahead of the German.
34' SAVE! Norgaard and Onyeka press on the edge of the Chelsea box. Their tenacity allows Mbeumo to take possession in the right-inside channel, but his low drive is straight at Mendy. It was neither a convincing shot nor a committed cross.

27' CLOSE! Kovacic strikes his effort at goal from 25 yards that deflects off the top of the wall and travels inches over the bar with Raya stretching.

Chelsea have won each of their last six away London derbies in the Premier League, and could become the first team in English Football League history (top four tiers) to win seven such games in a row.
Chelsea have made three changes to their side that beat Southampton two weeks ago. Sarr slots into the back three to make his Premier League debut for the Blues, while Christensen also starts. Thiago Silva is missing after playing for Brazil on Thursday, while Antonio Rudiger is sidelined. Kante gets the nod in the midfield to return in place of Hudson-Odoi, who drops to the bench.
The Bees have made one change to their line-up that beat West Ham last time out. Shandon Baptiste misses out in the middle of the park due to injury and is replaced by Jensen. There's no place for Wissa in the squad despite his goal against the Hammers, while Vitaly Janelt is also out due to injury.

Chelsea regained their momentum before the international break by easing past Southampton last time out. The Blues responded from defeats to Manchester City and Juventus to get back to winning ways. Thomas Tuchel and his team will be challenge by the Bees, who played well against Liverpool on home soil. It will be battle for 90 minutes and the visitors cannot afford to back down against the newly-promoted side.
Brentford have enjoyed an excellent start to their debut Premier League season by taking 12 points from their opening seven matches. The Bees produced a fine performance before the international break to snatch three points on their trip to London Stadium courtesy of a late goal from Yoane Wissa to defeat West Ham. Thomas Frank now have the challenge of facing off against one of the title contenders. It will be an excellent test of their mettle.
