Why ‘baby’ Paul Pogba may be worth the gamble for Man Utd - with Red Devils legend not ruling out third spell at Old Trafford for free agent

The Red Devils know all about the World Cup winner from his two previous stints at Old Trafford. He is a product of the club’s famed academy system and took in over 220 appearances during a second spell in England that came to a close in 2022.

Pogba returned to Juventus at that point, but has seen his contract with the Serie A giants terminated after being stung with a doping ban. That suspension has been reduced from four years to 18 months, meaning that a professional career can be resumed in March 2025.

There has been talk of Pogba accepting an invitation to train with United in the New Year, and Cole has told Cardplayer.com of why an agreement there could prove beneficial to all concerned. The 1999 Treble winner said: “Could Paul Pogba still play for Manchester United? Paul Pogba can still play anywhere. He has such ability and is still a fantastic player who is now coming out of a sticky situation.

“He is a player who would make any team in the Premier League better, he won’t be struggling for a club that's for sure. When he gets his fitness back up he will have options, he is still a baby at 31 and you can’t look past his undoubted quality.”

Pogba struggled for consistency during his latest spell in England, but did claim Europa League and League Cup winners’ medal. He is a proven performer at the very highest level and is also said to be attracting interest from MLS and his native France – where he could reunite with Mason Greenwood at Marseille.
