  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The England star was given his marching orders in the 39th minute after an exchange of words with referee Jose Luis Munuera. The official claimed in his report that Bellingham told him to "f*ck you", but Carlo Ancelotti claimed after his team's costly draw in La Liga that it was just a misunderstanding.

    WHAT BELLINGHAM SAID

Bellingham has since spoken about the situation, and said he instead said "f*ck off". He said: "It’s clear that I said it when I’ve already turned away. It’s difficult when he says it’s an insult when I haven’t insulted him. I’m glad the videos are out and there’s evidence that goes against what the referee put in the report. It’s clear that there was a communication error. It’s an expression like the Spanish expression ‘joder’; the consequence is that he left us with one less player. It’s not an insult; it was an expression for myself. You’ll see it in the video."

  • WHAT CARLO ANCELOTTI SAID

Madrid coach Ancelotti backed up the England international's claim when he was asked for his reaction to the red card, saying: "I think [the referee] didn't understand English well. He said: 'f*ck off', he didn't say: 'f*ck you' . He made a mistake, the translation of 'f*ck off' in Spanish is more like: 'don't f*ck with me'."

    WHAT NEXT?
