What did Cristiano Ronaldo tell Diogo Costa? Portugal star offers words of advice before goalkeeper saves Christian Eriksen's penalty in Nations League tie with Denmark

Just before Eriksen stepped up to take his penalty, Al-Nassr star Ronaldo had a lengthy chat with FC Porto keeper Costa. It is not known what was said but it may have helped as the Danish midfielder's spot-kick was superbly saved by the 25-year-old in the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final.

That save could potentially be the difference between Portugal reaching the semi-finals of the competition and falling in the last eight. Costa has a history of penalty saves and he showed off his quality once again on Thursday.

Portugal were the inaugural winners of the Nations League as they beat Netherlands 1-0 in the 2018/19 final thanks to Goncalo Guedes' strike.

After the first leg is over, Ronaldo's Portugal will host Denmark in the second leg on Sunday night.
