Wayne Rooney and son Kai trolled after Under-16 striker scores against Man Utd and copies iconic boxing celebration

Rooney was in attendance for the SuperCupNI final to watch son Kai in action, but it ended in heartbreak for United's youngsters as they were beaten 1-0 by Southampton on Friday. Jude Daniels scored the only goal of the game and followed it up by coping Wayne's iconic boxing celebration.

Back in 2015, Rooney scored during a 3-0 victory for United over Tottenham and celebrated by shadow boxing and then falling to the floor as if he'd been knocked out. That came after a video emerged showing the former England captain getting sent to the floor by former United and Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley, who had thrown a jab during a supposedly playful bout between the pair.

Kai had chances during the final, while Jacey Carrick, the son of Michael, also had opportunities to hit the back of the net. The 15-year-old himself copied the celebration of new Arsenal signing Viktor Gyokeres when he scored against West Cork Academy earlier in the tournament.

Rooney senior is set to appear on television screens regularly after agreeing a punditry deal with flagship BBC highlights show Match of the Day. Kai, meanwhile, will hope to continue rising through United's age group teams having first officially signed for the Old Trafford club five years ago.
