After a bright start which saw Ronaldo have one effort saved and another miss the target, the Portugal star finally helped fire the Saudi side to the lead.

The ball was played towards the 38-year-old and he ran towards it, chipped it forward for Anderson Talisca to run on and fire into the net.

It was a frustrating match for Ronaldo, who had many chances to put Al-Nassr further ahead, but he missed several chances, including one that hit the post.

Al-Tai soon fought back to score the equaliser late on and it looked like the teams were set to share the spoils, but Ronaldo and Al-Nassr were given one last chance to seal the win when the referee awarded a penalty for a handball.

The Portugal hero stepped up to fire into the back of the net, securing a 2-1 win and taking his goal tally up to 10 in the Saudi Pro League this season.

The penalty secured a vital three points for the Riyadh giants, who have now won each of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Ronaldo and his co-stars remain just one point behind reigning champions Al-Ittihad and Al-Taawon in the Saudi Pro League.

After Friday's game, Al-Nassr will start preparing for their AFC Champions League game against Istiklol on Monday.
