  • Gerrard shows love for Ngumoha

Gerrard, who is considered to be one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players and served as captain at Anfield for over 10 years, was noticeably enthusiastic about the chance to namedrop Reds wonderkid Ngumoha, who has since turned 17 and signed his first professional contract with the club. Ngumoha became the youngest scorer in the history of the men’s first team when he popped up with a 100th-minute winner in their 3-2 victory away at Newcastle United in August. This was also the latest winning goal Liverpool had ever scored in the Premier League.

Already a vital part of Arne Slot’s first-team squad, Ngumoha has helped Liverpool maintain a perfect start to the 2025-26 campaign, winning seven games across all competitions thus far, including five in the Premier League and one apiece in the Champions League and Carabao Cup.

  • More questions for Gerrard

One of the trickier questions Gerrard faced concerned the 2024-25 winner of the Premier League Golden Glove, presented to the goalkeeper who kept the most clean sheets. In this instance, it was shared between Arsenal stopper Raya and Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels, who recorded 13 shutouts each. Liverpool’s Alisson Becker managed to keep nine clean sheets, despite 10 league games with an injury.

In another recent interview with GOAL, Gerrard was tasked with playing a game of ‘winner stays on’ involving current Premier League midfielders, beginning with younger players and working up to more established stars. The last man standing proved to be Rodri, who edged out Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister as the Manchester City anchor has won a Ballon d’Or.

  • What is Gerrard doing now after Al Ettifaq exit?

Gerrard is currently out of work after leaving his post as Al-Ettifaq manager in January 2025, though he has been linked with various other roles since, including the jobs at Leeds United and Wrexham. Prior to that, the former England international spent just under a year in charge of Aston Villa before being replaced by Unai Emery.

However, the main success of Gerrard’s managerial career came during his first job as the head coach of a senior team. He was announced as the manager of Scottish giants Rangers in 2018, and he ended their nine-year wait for a league title in 2021 during his final full season at Ibrox, bringing the curtain down on rivals Celtic’s dominance in the decade beforehand.

Following his retirement from playing, Gerrard has adorned the red of Liverpool again in legends matches for charity and is still hailed as a favourite son of Anfield long after hanging up his boots.
