'He has an unbelievable body!' - Cristiano Ronaldo backed to play 'deep into his 40s' by ex-Man Utd striker

Ronaldo, who turns 40 next month, remains unsure about his future in Saudi Arabia as he has entered the final six months of his existing deal with Al-Nassr. He has been linked with a move back to Europe, however, the superstar footballer has reaffirmed his commitment to oversee the growth of football in the Middle Eastern country.

Last year, in a sit-down interview with former Manchester United team-mate Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo vowed to reach 1000 career goals before hanging up his boots. Now, another ex-United star, Sheringham, has backed the Portugal icon to play 'deep into his 40s' due to his commitment to fitness and his incredible physique.

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds, Sheringham said: "Can Cristiano Ronaldo play deep into his 40s? That depends. At that age, it gets harder to recover from knocks and minor injuries. He has an unbelievable body and looks after it a million times better than players did in my day. If anyone is going to play into his mid-40s then it’s him because of how he has looked after himself."

Ronaldo, who last featured for Al-Nassr in early December, will be back in action for the club on Thursday as the Saudi giants take on Al-Akhdoud in a league clash. Al-Nassr are sitting fourth in the Saudi Pro League table after 13 games, 11 points behind leaders Al-Ittihad.
