Tyler Adams boost for USMNT! £23m midfielder ‘is training’ at Bournemouth after second surgery on hamstring injury & just 20 minutes of game time since March 2023

The United States international midfielder first broke down in March 2023 while still on the books of Leeds United. He found himself stuck on the sidelines as the Whites suffered relegation out of the Premier League, but was still able to secure a £23 million ($29m) transfer to the Vitality Stadium.

Adams has taken in just 20 minutes of Carabao Cup action for Bournemouth, with the decision taken to send him under the knife once again. Cherries boss Andoni Iraola stated back in October that the 24-year-old could be out for “three or four months”, and that prediction may be coming true.

Iraola has told the Daily Echo when asked for an update on Adams, who has seen limited game time over the last 12 months: “He is training. On his own still, but he is touching the ball, going through the process. There have been no setbacks. Everything is going well. But I don’t know exactly when he is going to start training with the team.”

Bournemouth have fared admirably without Adams, moving up to 12th in the Premier League table, but will welcome added competition for places in their squad. The USMNT will also be eager to see their captain from the 2022 World Cup back on the field as they count down the days to the CONCACAF Nations League finals and a Copa America tournament that will be staged on home soil this summer.
