The Leagues Cup has stirred up all kinds of opinions - and not all of them good. From fan backlash to criticism from coaches and players, the tournament’s format has been under fire since day one. But not everyone’s against it. For Tigres head coach Guido Pizarro, this competition is more opportunity than an obstacle.
Speaking ahead of Tigres’ final group-stage match, Pizarro made it clear he’s in favor of the tournament - not just for his team, but for the overall growth of both Liga MX and MLS.
“I like coming to play these kinds of tournaments,” he said. “They help both leagues grow. And honestly, punishing coaches for voicing their opinions? That feels a bit over the top.”
