    WHAT HAPPENED?

Charlotte FC star Wilfried Zaha took to social media to hit out at his critics following the team's 1-0 loss to the New England Revolution on Saturday.

The Ivorian star, who signed with Charlotte FC as a Designated Player ahead of this season, posted that he feels he's been scapegoated despite the various challenges he's dealt with since arriving in MLS.

Among the factors he pointed to were a lack of minutes at Lyon prior to his arrival, his absence due to the birth of his daughter and his adjustment to the turf at Charlotte FC's Bank of America Stadium.

"Typical. We lost a game and somehow it's Zaha's fault," he posted, in part. He added, "I usually wouldn't reply to this stupid s**t but I'm not a scapegoat for people to waffle about in at clubs anymore."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Zaha has talled two goals in his first eight matches for Charlotte, but has scored just once since netting in a debut win over Atlanta United. Charlotte FC, meanwhile, are near the top of the Eastern Conference.

With the loss, Charlotte now sit fourth in the Eastern Conference, just three points back of conference leaders FC Cincinnati. In the West, only the conference-leading Vancouver Whitecaps have more points than Charlotte.
