  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Andy O'Boyle's two-year stint as deputy football director at Manchester United is coming to an end, according to The Athletic. He was recruited from his role as head of elite performance at the Premier League to support previous football director John Murtough, particularly in improving the men's and women's academies.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    O'Boyle took on more responsibility when Murtough left last April, assisting INEOS director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford in establishing the new hierarchy that now includes Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox and Dan Ashworth. He was heavily involved in bringing Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte to Old Trafford this summer.
