'I felt the fire inside!' - Scott McTominay reveals his ambitions with Napoli after leaving boyhood club Man Utd in €30m transfer

The Scotland international eventually made the switch from United to Napoli late last month, ending a 22-year stay with the Red Devils. Now, the 27-year-old has opened up about what he wants to achieve with the Serie A team.

He told Sky in Italy: "My dream is to win the Scudetto with Napoli, to win trophies and be successful.

"I'm very proud to be here, when I found out that Napoli were interested in me I felt the fire inside. The blue fans are crazy, I'd say the best I've ever seen. My team-mates and the technical staff have also given me a special welcome: the fact that a coach of [Antonio] Conte's calibre wanted to bring me to his team fills me with confidence, I want to show him that I can give him a lot."

McTominay had his best ever season at United last term but he was always going to be a bit-part player under manager Erik ten Hag. This move is a great opportunity for the attacking midfielder, who has made two appearances for his new club so far, to do something special with Napoli in an exciting new chapter of his career.

McTominay - who signed for €30 million (£25m/$34m) - may next get a chance to shine for Napoli when they take on Palermo in round two of the Coppa Italia on Thursday night, before hosting Monza on Sunday in Serie A action.
