  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    According to AS, both Perez and Laporta have formally resigned from their positions in the managing committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The decision, communicated to RFEF President Pedro Rocha in late October, is motivated by their desire not to interfere in the impending RFEF electoral process, scheduled for the early months of 2024.

    The resignation of the presidents of Barcelona and Real Madrid, the two biggest clubs in Spain, signifies a deliberate step back from involvement in the upcoming RFEF presidential campaign. This move aims to maintain a neutral stance and allow a fair electoral process.

    Victor Francos, the president of The Higher Sports Council (CSD) granted authorization on October 11 for RFEF general elections in the first quarter of 2024, aligning with the federative body's request. In accordance with the norms, the current order ECD/2764/2015 was sent to all RFEF assembly members for their review and was published on the official website as well for their review.
