Madrid's highly anticipated Santiago Bernabeu stadium renovation is progressing, with the club aiming for an official inauguration between the end of May and early June. However, it was first slated for a December 2023 unveiling, according to Madrid’s latest accounts.

It is understood that the inauguration ceremony has been rescheduled to align with a series of celebratory events at the stadium. These festivities include concerts featuring international artists Taylor Swift and Duki, confirmed for May 31 and June 8. Real Madrid is also eager to host one of their 'Corazon Classic' legends matches during this period.

The renovation is a monumental project with a reported cost nearing €1 billion. The financing for this ambitious undertaking is provided by JP Morgan and Bank of America at a fixed interest rate of approximately 1.53%.

The standout feature of this architectural marvel is the futuristic wrap-around facade of the stadium. Comprising strips of steel and illuminated stripes, this facade is designed to display projected images, adding a visually striking element to the iconic venue.

Real Madrid will play at the Bernabeu on Sunday evening when they host Villarreal in a La Liga fixture.
