Real Madrid players honour injured team-mate David Alaba with personalised jackets in touching moment ahead of Alaves clash

Los Blancos paid tribute to their teammate with pre-game shirts, after he tore his ACL at the weekend.

David Alaba went to ground in agony during the first half of Madrid's clash with Villarreal last weekend after twisting his knee awkwardly. The club swiftly confirmed that the Austrian defender had ruptured his ACL — and would need surgery.

Los Blancos have endured a miserable season on the injury front. Eder Militao, Thiabut Courtois and Alaba have all sustained torn ACLs, while Eduardo Camavinga is a long-term absentee with a knee injury of his own.

The Austrian will undergo a lengthy rehab process, and will hope to be back in the fold in September.
