Why Raheem Sterling will be going nowhere fast - despite Man Utd openness - as Chelsea look to sell with transfer window ticking down

It was earlier reported that the England international is looking for ways to exit Stamford Bridge after he was deemed surplus to Enzo Marsca's needs for the ongoing 2024-25 season. However, per The Athletic, Sterling is unlikely to move out anytime soon despite interest from several clubs including Manchester United.

The Athletic report claims that Sterling's immediate priority is to sort out his contract situation with the Blues before initiating talks with other clubs. The winger, who earns £325,000 per week at Chelsea at the moment, still has three years left in his existing deal and he would like to hold talks with his club before thinking of moving out.

The Daily Mail reports that Manchester United could be a possible escape route for the 29-year-old as they look to offload Jadon Sancho. However, the player's high wages at the West London club could jeopardise that move.

The former Liverpool and Manchester City star is currently training alone as he did not feature in any of the matches Maresca's side have played thus far. It remains to be seen if the player finds a way out through dialogue and exits Chelsea before the transfer window closes on Friday.
