    WHAT HAPPENED?

As Chivas continue their squad overhaul ahead of the Apertura 2025, the club has signed Richard Ledezma. The Mexican-American right back has arrived in Guadalajara and signed his contract, finalizing his move from PSV Eindhoven.

Ledezma expressed his excitement about joining the Rebaño Sagrado, keeping his remarks brief but meaningful upon landing in Mexico.

“I’m very happy. Joining Chivas is a dream,” he said.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

During his most recent season in the Netherlands, Ledezma featured in 38 matches across all competitions, including 24 appearances in the Eredivisie, where he scored one goal. The move to Chivas marks his third stint with a club in the Americas, following earlier spells with New York City FC and Real Salt Lake's youth system.

His arrival could also signal a change within the squad, as current right back Alan Mozo has been linked with a possible move to Club León. Mozo’s potential departure would open the door for Ledezma to secure a starting role early in the season.

    WHAT RICHARD LEDEZMA SAID

On the international front, Ledezma's future remains open. Though he has already played in a friendly match for the U.S. senior national team in 2020, he is still eligible to represent Mexico.

"We’ll see, we’ll see," he responded when asked about choosing El Tri.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIVAS?

Gabriel Milito’s Chivas side will kick off their preseason schedule this Friday with a friendly against Tapatío, the club’s reserve team. The match marks the beginning of a series of tune-up games ahead of the Apertura 2025.

Following the clash with Tapatío, Chivas will face Atlante, Santos Laguna, and Necaxa in additional preseason fixtures as the team builds form under its new manager.

Their league campaign will officially begin on July 19, when they host Club León on Matchday 2. Chivas’ original opener against Tigres, scheduled for Matchday 1, has been postponed to September due to ongoing renovations at Estadio Akron in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
