    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Guardiola's new contract will take him to over a decade at the club where he has enjoyed phenomenal success. The Spaniard has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and the Champions League during his time at the Etihad Stadium. Yet City are in the midst of a difficult season, as the club await the verdict of a hearing into their 115 alleged breaches of financial rules. Guardiola's side have also struggled on the pitch in recent weeks, losing their last four games in a row before the international break.

  • WHAT MAN CITY SAID

Manchester City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak todl the club's website: "Like every City fan, I am delighted that Pep’s journey with Manchester City will continue; allowing his dedication, passion and innovative thinking to continue to shape the landscape of the game. His hunger for improvement and success remains insatiable and the direct beneficiaries of that will continue to be our players and coaching staff, the culture of our Club, and the English game at large. This renewal will take Pep beyond a decade of coaching Manchester City and the opportunity to continue to re-write the managerial record books.”

Guardiola is currently on his worst ever run as City boss after losing four matches in a row for the first time in his managerial career. Indeed this is the first time City have lost four straight games since August 2006, when Stuart Pearce was in charge.
