Marca has now reported that Barcelona have decided to drop their interest in Williams, as they are expecting a slow summer due to their struggles with finances. If they are to make signings in the transfer window for next season, they would look to sign a backup for Jules Kounde.

Arsenal are said to be interested in signing Williams this summer, as Mikel Arteta is keen on improving his options on the left wing despite Gabriel Martinelli having occupied the side. Barcelona dropping out of the race for Williams could help the Gunners sign the Spaniard.

The Athletic Club winger wanted to stay with the Basque side this summer as he was keen on playing European football with them in the Europa League. So far, the move to stay put has been positive as Los Leones are currently in the quarter-final of the competition.
