    WHAT HAPPENED?

    The 38-year-old left Ligue 2 team Amiens at the end of last summer, making him a free agent. Cisse, who scored the most goals for the French team the previous season (12 total), is rumoured to be residing near Macclesfield. The Premier League cult hero is also training with the side currently and could soon receive a contract, according to The Telegraph.

    Macclesfield Town have achieved consecutive promotions since entering the North West Counties Premier Division in 2020. Robbie Savage, former Wales midfielder, serves as their director of football. They have players with EFL experience in their ranks and are presently competing in the Northern Premier League. They have hired Paul McGuinness, the former Manchester United academy manager, as head coach and former Ipswich and Hull centre-back, Alex Bruce, as their manager. Wayne Rooney's brother John is also part of the playing squad.
