  • WHAT HAPPENED?

According to Football365, United will make an offer to recruit the 26-year-old if they qualify for next season's Champions League. They can only do that, though, if they win this season's Europa League - with Ruben Amorim's men on the cusp of reaching the final after a 3-0 semi-final first-leg win over Athletic Club.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Araujo signed a new deal until 2031 with Barcelona in January but reports suggest the centre-back's lack of regular game time is 'causing him concern' and if his role is not guaranteed in the starting XI, he could 'consider a change of scenery'. This is not the first time United have been linked with the Uruguay international, with Araujo reportedly seen as the 'cornerstone' of the Red Devils' new defensive project.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Araujo has made 22 appearances for Barcelona this season, a campaign that was blighted by a hamstring injury in the first few months. But even when he has been back fit, he has sometimes been left on the bench behind Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez.

Araujo will hope to start for Barcelona when they travel to Inter Milan in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday.
