Man Utd given huge stadium boost as UK Government 'really keen to crack on' with building 100,000-seater home for Red Devils

Earlier this month, United announced their plans to build a new stadium for the Red Devils' senior team. The plans come to light with Old Trafford having gone way past its sell-by date, thanks to the number of issues plaguing the Theatre of Dreams, from vermin-infested stands to leaky ceilings.

Lisa Nandy, the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport has now revealed that the conversations between senior members have been positive and they want to 'crack on' with the project. The construction of the new stadium will create a number of jobs in the Greater Manchester area and help out with the already struggling economy.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Nandy said: "It's a moving feast at the moment, but we are impatient to get the economy growing again and get projects like this off the ground. We're not wasting a minute.

"The Chancellor, Business Secretary and I have been in discussions and we're really keen to crack on. Manchester United have to make their own plans and satisfy their own investors. What we have to do as a Government is maximise the benefits of projects like these for the communities that they serve.

"That's why we are working with the Mayor of Greater Manchester and others. But we're really confident we can do that."

The Red Devils are unlikely to have the new stadium set up anytime soon and will remain at Old Trafford for at least the next five years.
