Getty/GOALTHE BIGGER PICTURE
This summer represents a turning point in the career of Pogba's former team-mate. Rashford's loan deal, with a €30m option-to-buy for Barcelona, represents a chance for the 26-year-old to move on from the club he has represented since he was a boy after a turbulent year. Meanwhile, Pogba has just joined Monaco, after serving his 18-month ban for violating anti-doping laws. He last played a competitive fixture in September 2023 while at Juventus.
Getty Images SportWHAT POGBA SAID
Speed asked Pogba for his opinion on the Rashford to Barca deal. The midfielder replied: "That's crazy, but I'm happy for him because they [United] took his number. Manchester United are losing a great player. Unlucky for them.
"It's great for Barcelona to be honest. I'm not even talking about United, because they've bought a few new players and the new manager wants to do his thing I guess. It's not really his [Amorim's] fault. If he doesn't believe in someone. He needs to win. If he doesn't win they're going to sack him."
Getty Images SportWHAT NEXT?
Rashford is set to be unveiled as a Barcelona player on Tuesday, July 22 pending a successful medical. Pogba will be building towards to August 16, when Monaco's Ligue 1 season starts with a home game against Le Havre.
