Man Utd eyeing two Bayern Munich stars as Erik ten Hag plans more signings after poor start to season

Per Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg, the Red Devils are monitoring the situations of Bayern stars Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka ahead of the January transfer window. The club are planning to strengthen their midfield by roping in another defensive midfielder after Manuel Ugarte - who joined the team from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer for £51 million ($60m) - and are hence exploring the option to sign Goretzka.

While Goretzka's current deal expires in 2026, Sane has already entered the final 12 months of his existing contract. Plettenberg, however, also mentions that both players are unlikely to leave the Bundesliga giants in the middle of the season.

Despite making six signings in the summer of 2024 including two Bayern stars Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, United are off to a disappointing start this season as they currently find themselves 14th in the Premier League and without a win in their last five outings across all competitions.

Erik ten Hag's side will be back in action on Saturday as they aim to end their winless run against Brentford in the Premier League at Old Trafford. United will face Fenerbahce in the Europa League five days later.
