Speaking to Best Betting Sites, ex-United striker Louis Saha revealed that the legendary Scottish boss never had to deal with a dressing room like this one and would not be certain to improve their fortunes. Saha also revealed his memories of Ferguson as a manager, including his ability to adapt to the challenge posed by Jose Mourinho during the final years of his stewardship.

Ferguson is the most successful manager in Premier League history, leading United to 13 league titles as well as two Champions League trophies and much more. That is a distant dream for the current United squad, who sit 15th with less than half the number of points leaders Liverpool have.

Saha said: "This United squad is not as equipped as we were, so it's difficult. Sir Alex would never have encountered a dressing room like this one and he would have never found himself in this situation because he was a winner who built winning teams. I understand why legends like Gary Neville are frustrated. We have made too many mistakes over the last decade, we’ve taken our eye off the ball and have been thinking that we are like a business. We didn’t have these problems, so it's really hard for me to say Sir Alex Ferguson would have done this and that. He’s been humble in the past, changing coaches when he needed to adapt. When he was competing with Mourinho, he changed the way we approached the game to compete and be at this level. There are things that he changed in terms of style, but he always wanted to be aligned with the fans' demands."

Manchester United have lots of work to do to get themselves into the top half of the Premier League, let alone be thinking ahead to challenging for titles again. Ruben Amorim has signed a contract until 2027 and is the man minority owners INEOS have appointed to turn things around in the long run.
