Marra is best known for his work with Olympic gold medallist Ashton Eaton. The decathlete tasted glory in 2012 and 2016 while working with Marra. The 78-year-old has also worked with Major League Baseball team the San Francisco Giants as a speed and fitness consultant and is now sharing his vast knowledge with United's fitness and sports science staff. Marra's arrival is said to have "been a cause of some excitement" at United due to his "almost guru-like status."
