Lyndon Dykes to complete £1m transfer to Birmingham City from QPR as Tom Brady & Co pull off surprise coup

The League One side initiated their pursuit of the 28-year-old forward on Monday evening, swiftly advancing negotiations. On Tuesday, Dykes is expected to undergo a medical, according to The Athletic.

Dykes is poised to sign a three-year contract with Birmingham City, marking the end of his four-year tenure at Loftus Road. During his time with QPR, Dykes found the back of the net 37 times in 165 appearances across all competitions.

Despite their relegation from the Championship, Birmingham City's new American ownership group has ambitious plans to return to the second-tier English football at the first opportunity. Manager Chris Davies is keen to ensure adequate backup for Alfie May, the club's main striker. 31-year-old May has started the season strongly, but the arrival of Dykes is expected to provide much-needed competition in the striking department.

With seven points from their first three games, Birmingham are positioned well in the early stages of the campaign. Their next challenge will be in the EFL Cup, where they are set to face Fulham in a second-round tie. Meanwhile, Dykes could make his debut against Wigan Athletic on Saturday in League One.
